Air fryer chicken patties are some of the cheapest, healthiest, AND most versatile ways to get your protein. Whether you want chicken patties for a sandwich, salad, or with some rice and vegetables, they’ll QUICKLY become one of your go-to meals!

I make these at least once a month and use them as meal prep for the week. Normally I’ll eat them pretty quickly, but I’ll also throw them in the freezer and store them for later. What I love about these is I know what’s going in them compared to some frozen chicken patties. Plus I can control the macros to fit them in my diet.

Being able to change the flavor just by choosing my favorite sauces makes it is to keep eating them without them getting too boring. I prefer to make them crispy with breadcrumbs, but if you’re trying to cut carbs you can still follow this recipe and skip that part.

Servings 6 chicken patties
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lbs Ground Chicken
  • 1 Egg Whites
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • ½ tsp Onion Powder
  • Dried Oregano or Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • Olive Oil
  • Panko or Italian Breadcrumbs

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 ℉ for about 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, add ground chicken, bread crumbs, egg whites (or egg, but egg whites are more cost-effective), olive oil, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and italian seasoning or oregano. Mix everything well until you get the consistency pictured above
  • Ball the mixture into 6 equal size balls. Using a spatula (or any other flat surface) flatten each one until they're thin (they will bunch up like burgers). Personally, I like them on the thinner side because it's easier to make them crispy and I like the texture.
  • On a plate, coat your patties with your breadcrumbs of choice. (Optional: Brush the patties with olive oil if you want to help the breadcrumbs stick.)
  • Place your chicken patties in the air fryer (likely 3 or 4 at a time depending on your air fryer size) and cook for 12 minutes. Make sure to flip them half-way through. Internal temp should be ~165. If you don't have a thermometer, look for patties to have golden brown color with some charring as pictured above.

Air Fryer Chicken Patties Tips

  1. Make Them Thin: Chicken patties will plump up in the air fryer similar to burgers on the grill. Think of the thickness you want, then make the patties thinner than that before placing in the air fryer.
  2. Reheat in Air Fryer: If you want your patties to remain crispy days or weeks after making them, avoid the microwave. I hate eating soggy leftovers, but the air fryer will help you keep the texture and crisp!

Pairing Options:

  1. Buffalo Chicken Patties: Toss in my Famous Buffalo Wing Sauce and dip in Blue Cheese sauce with a side of celery
  2. BBQ Chicken Patties: Toss in some bbq sauce with some air-fried sweet potato fries
  3. Chicken Patty Salad: Dice up the chicken patties and mix into your favorite salad for some protein
  4. Serve with sweet or savory air fryer sweet potato cubes and a vegetable for a healthy meal prep dish.
