Making an Air Fryer Tortilla Pizza is NOT as difficult as you might think. It requires way less effort and cooking skills compared to regular pizzas, and you can build it right in your air fryer. This 4-ingredient tortilla pizza will be your go-to snack when you’re in a pinch! Plus, not only is it cheap, but it’s low carb, so you can satisfy your crunchy cravings.
Choosing Your Air Fryer Pizza Tortilla
When you go to the tortilla aisle, it’s usually filled with tons of options. Between the 10 different brands, low-carb, corn, or flour, there are too many. My recommendation is to either buy the cheapest OR by a thin or fluffy tortilla based on your preference. Unlike regular pizza where the crust is important, tortilla pizza is built different. You’re unlikely to taste the tortilla, with the sauce and toppings, and it will only determine your crunchiness.
Tortilla Pizza Sauce
If you plan on needing copious amounts of pizza sauce for other recipes, you can save money by making your own and storing it in some mason jars.
If you’re like me, you’re probably buying your pizza sauce, so make sure to check the calories. Some sauces have hidden sugars or cheese which will give you extra calories, Now 20-60 calories won’t make or break your diet, but it can help cutting out calories where the taste effect is minimal.
Best Low-Calorie Pizza Toppings
Obviously, you can add your favorite toppings if you’re not trying to count calories. Lots of toppings like bacon, ham, sausage and pepperoni will add protein so you’re not just eating carbs and fats.
If you want toppings that have high protein AND low fat you can use: grilled chicken breast, turkey pepperoni, or turkey bacon.
For non-protein toppings, sprinkle on veggies like peppers (red/green/jalapenos), green onions (use your excess onions from my scallion cream cheese recipe), or dare I say, pineapple? According to Hinge that’s a popular conversation starter.

- Make-uh da Pizza: Place the assembled tortilla pizzas in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the edges are golden brown, and the cheese is melted.
Air Fryer Tortilla Pizza Tips
- Don’t Be Afraid to Double Up: Sometimes, tortilla pizza can get too flimsy, or break if the sauce/cheese/toppings are too heavy. If you want, add a very thin layer of sauce and use it like glue for 2 tortillas. If you ever had the Mexican pizza at Taco Bell it’s the same concept.
- Oil Me Up: For extra tortilla crispiness, lightly brush oil on the tortilla
- Light On the Sauce: Too much sauce will make the tortilla soggy. The real stars are the cheese and toppings anyway, so think of the sauce as your glue.
